Let the Reading Begin...
15th March 2018
"The CILIP Carnegie Medal The CILIP Carnegie Medal is awarded annually to the writer of an outstanding book written in English for children and young people." Previous winners of the prestigious award include: Patrick Ness, Robert Swindells and Sarah Crossan, to name but a few. This year, a group of our Year 8 HAPs will be participating in the Carnegie Shadowing scheme and aiming to read all eight of the shortlisted titles before the winner is announced on 18th June! At lunchtime today, the group met to discover this year's shortlisted titles...by opening the boxes of our book delivery! We discussed the front covers and blurbs and decided on the first read: 'Rook' by Anthony McGowan, setting the target of completing it by next Thursday's meeting! Reading the first chapter together was a great start to our shadowing journey - a slightly unusual narrative so far but this should bring a great discussion! Watch this space for more shadowing news or take a look at our official webpage (from next week): http://carnegiegreenaway.org.uk/grouphomepages/index.php?GroupID=27694 |
