In my opinion all of the speeches were great. I think that I did well writing my speech and learning it however when reading tended to look at my notes and not around the room because I was feeling nervous. I especially enjoyed Megan's speech about mental health as it was really moving and emotional. I also enjoyed Rachel speech about her cats as it showed how passionate she was about her topic. Overall I think they all went well.
I am not going to lie that I had a nervous break down in front of the class, so I forgot my speech which I spent the past few days learning. I should have practised more by finishing my speech earlier and reading it out loud to myself. Halfway through my speech I found my self being bored of me just saying out facts that I found on the internet. I have not thought about the audience at all. They do not want facts, but something emotional that draws the audiences attention like an anecdote. Although most people used this technique really well I found Megan used this the best and was a main part of her speech. I think the key to success is to find a topic that people can relate to and really engage the audience. In the end everyone produced a good speech that they can be proud of.
This method of critical reflection, Xin, will really help you to improve your work. It should fill you with confidence to read other posts mentioning your speech.
I was nervous at the start of the speeches, but as we progressed through more and more, I became less worried. However when It was my turn, I was how I was at the start of the speeches who caused me to keep looking down at my points and forget them. I didn't find my speech interesting because it seemed like I just read facts of a sheet but that may be because I already knew the information before. I found Megan's speech engaged the most people because she related her speech to her life and gave examples of real life people. In the end, I think the speeches went well.
I enjoyed listening to everyones speeches but felt nervous when it came to reading mine as I was after Megan. I felt like I could of read over my speech more because I couldn't remember it. But overall I think I written my speech well and delivered it quite well. My favourite speech to listen to was Xin's. I feel like we should do things like that in class more often.
I think that everyone delivered their speeches very well and I enjoyed listening to them, I think I could of learned and memorised my speech better because when I got nervous I read of the sheet as I forgot it. I think if I was to do it again I would try and act more confident and read of the sheet less. I think Megan's speech was very good as her topic engaged me and made me think about people with mental health issues. I think that overall the speeches went very well.
I enjoyed listening to everyone's speeches it was good to hear all the different points that people had to say. I was nervous reading my speech out but once i did i felt better, I think i wrote my speech better than i read it out. I liked leah boyle's speech i think she read her's out very well.
Overall, I feel that my speech was decent at best. The deliverie of my speech would have been improved, I felt nervous and kept looking down at my notes. It was a lot more difficult than I previously aticipated. Sadly, I felt that my speech was out to shame by the majority of the class. The quality of the speeches were extremely high. The expectations were extremely high, but each speech met them.
Use the wrong word (would), when I should have used could
I think that we all done really well on the speeches and we produced good, quality pieces of work, I think that it is easier to write a speech when the topic chosen is something that the audience can really connect with and when it is a subject that you are really passionate about. At first I felt really nervous and felt like I was reading from my notes and saying anything that I could think of and remember, but as I got further into my speech I began to calm down and relied less on my notes. I think that a successful technique in speeches to connect with the audience is anecdotes and personal anecdotes, I also feel that statistics and facts help the audience understand what you are talking about. I believe that Xin's speech was really interesting and informative and it was clear that he was speaking about something that he is passionate about. Overall I think we all done really well.
Well done Megan! Reading the other posts should fill you with confidence - you are mentioned in most of them!
Overall I think that the speeches were of a really high standard. Many were about important topics that involved the audience. To improve my own speech I believe I could of picked a topic that related to the audience not just me and memorised my speech better. Megan's speech on mental health was really powerful and informed the audience about a topic not many people knew a lot about.
Excellent reflective comments Year 9. Don't forget SPaG standards eg could have (not 'could of'), should have, would have.
I feel as though I did well with my speech in the way that I gave a good balance of fact and opinion and tried my best to give my speech an emotional edge on a topic that doesn't affect, or even interest, most - but in that aspect I think I could have done better. I also found myself staring at my sheet throughout as I thought I would have a lot more time to learn my speech and not have had to do it so soon. I feel as though Meghan achieved in the aspects I feel I failed in and delivered a strong, powerful, emotive speech that engaged the audience throughout and was one of the few that I felt nobody felt bored throughout while listeing to.
I feel that on a whole my speech went fine. I used facts as well as emotional stories to draw the audience in. However I feel that the PowerPoint added nothing to the speech, and it was rushed so it did not look appealing. Also, I need to remain calm throughout my speech and not lose my temper when the questions I am asked disagree with what I was speaking about. I
I personally believe that everyone's speeches were excellent and the quality of writing was amazing. Everyone done exceptionally well to get up in front of the class and perform their speeches the way they did. I thought my speech went well but I could have done a lot better on learning it and improving it once I'd finished. I felt like I was looking at my notes a lot and I think my preparation was pretty poor. Apart from that I thought I delivered my speech well. Again a big well to everyone.
I feel like everyone's speeches turned out really well and I enjoyed listening to them. I learned a lot of new things as most people's speeches were very informative. I feel like my speech would have been better if I didn't read off of my sheet as much and spoke slower. I should have also picked a more interesting topic and included the audience more, like Megan did. She delivered her speech really well and spoke about an important subject.
I enjoyed listening to all the speeches throughout the class, especially Megan's. The standard of each speech was very high. I think I should have learnt and practiced my speech more so I could of looked at my notes less and made more eye contact with the audience.
I feel asif my speech would of been more able to be understood and listened to easier if i slowed down when talking and explained my points in more detail. However what i do think went well was the fact I did read word for word off my sheet.
Take care with SPaG Joe - 'as if', capital 'I', would have.
I feel like i could have done alot better in my speech as to me it was very fast and not as put together as i hoped it would. I also learned alot from everybody elses speech that i would probaly would never learn anywhere else. To me i would want my speech to have went like xin as he had alot of control and a really good pace to his speech
Overall, I thought everyone's speeches were very good and I good see the effort that we all put in to our speeches. I feel like my speech would of been better if I slowed down when speaking and included the audience more. I think Megan's was the best because the topic she picked was very interesting and the way she delivered her speech was brilliant.
Writing my speech was a challenge because I had to write and talk about something that I am passionate about in front of the class. I think that if I didn't giggle and look down at my speech as much, I would have been better presenting it. To improve, I'd spend more time rehursing my speech to feel more confident while reading it.
I really liked Megan's speech about mental health, because it was so gripping and emotional to listen to. I also enjoyed listening to Sean's speech. It was very informative and he presented it really well. Leah's speech was also great, she read her's out amazingly because it was clear and she got her view point across as well as discussing other opinions.
I thought everyone's speeches where really good, I enjoyed listening to them all and seeing other people's opinions on certain topics.I really enjoyed listening to Megan's and xins as they where very good and had a strong tone to them. Even though I prepared a lot for the speech ,while I was doing it I really felt the pressure so I didn't present it as well as I should have. My speech should have been longer as I think it was to short to get my message across to the audience.
I wasn't really nervous until it was my turn to 'perform' my hands started shaking a lot but as I went on I got more comfortable doing so. I don't really think there was a bad speech and it was nice to see what other people were interested in. I think I'll know what to expect next year when we do another speech.
