StreetLaw Hits HAPs Challenge
10th February 2017 A group of undergraduates from The University of Liverpool's StreetLaw programme delivered an interactive session to our HAPs, after school today. The focus was on medical law, a growing area of the sector. Our Year 10 and 11 students learnt about and then debated the law surrounding organ transplantation. Pupils found it engaging and extremely informative, particularly learning that England has an 'opt-in' policy on organ transplantation whilst Wales has an 'opt-out'. All pupils agreed that our country needs to do more to educate and provide information about organ donation and how to register. They thought of some impressive ideas for progression in this area and then discussed how the legal system would impact the viability of them. Again, we were really privileged to learn about this topic and thank the undergraduates for taking time out of their busy schedules. This week we look forward to the Year 7-9 StreetLaw session on capital punishment. |
